MY FAVOURITE PLACE

Can Boixeres Park
My favourite place in l’Hospitalet is Can Boixeres Park.
I like it because when I was a child I went to the park with my family and my school. The park is big with many places where you can do different activities; you could play, run, sit, read, walk, take the dog for a walk …
There are a lot of trees and green areas. In spring, during l’Hospitalet festivities, there are concerts, activities for children and the colour festival.
There are also football pitches and basketball courts and there are places for children.
That’s why it is my favourite place.

Santa Eulalia Hermitage
My favourite place in l’Hospitalet is the Hermitage which is in the neighbourhood of Santa Eulalia.
This chapel is from the 11th century and it’s the oldest building in the city.
Fortunately, this construction has been preserved for centuries. In 1950, a new church larger than the chapel was built opposite the hermitage. Although it is very beautiful it doesn’t have the charm of the chapel.
In the centre, there is a square with trees and benches where you can sit and look at the wonder that surrounds us.
To me, it is part of my life. From these lines I invite you to visit this hermitage. I’m sure it will transport you to another time.

Gornal_Gran Via
This former outlying district has become a business area. Gran Via has many beautiful things to offer. There is great space to walk and offers many ways to exercise in Pedrosa Park. People can walk and sit on the benches along the avenue. There are a lot of trees and shade. The gardeners do a good job of keeping up the flowers and lawns.
There are several shopping centres. Families can go to the shopping centre and cinemas.
In Gran Via takes place the World Mobile Congress with all kind of activities about technology and mobiles.
In my opinion, the best thing that the city council did is to cover Gran Via so the neighbours don’t have to cope with the noise of the intense traffic. That’s why it’s my favourite avenue.

Las Ramblas
One of the places I like the most in my city are les Rambles.
I often walk along Rambla Marina. You can also run and do sport with your bicycle because there is a bike lane.
Rambla Marina connects Bellvitge district with the city centre. In the Rambla Just Oliveras there are many shops on both sides. In the centre, there are many terrace bars.
There are a lot of trees and shade in the summer.
I can’t think of a better place to go. That’s why it’s my favourite place.

Bellvitge Park
The park is near the Metropolitan, so when I go swimming I pass by this park.
In spring, you can see a festival of colours. There are a lot of flowers. Some people run across the park and everybody walks their dogs.
There is a small bar where people drink and meet or celebrate a birthday because there are many tables.
There is a fountain when you can drink.
It’s a beautiful park and I like it.

Carmen Amaya
It’s near where I live. There are lot of trees and the birds sing. My street seems wide and there are small fruit shops .My neighbourhood is nice. Most people are retired and they talk about the past.
I can’t think of a better street.

The river
There are places in l’Hospitalet for all tastes. Some people may not like my site, but my favourite place is the river where you can go on foot and by bicycle, as it is my case.
You can walk along the roads and you can go by bike to the nearby town El Prat, Sant Boi or the outskirts of Martorell.
On the way, you can see different animals such as ducks, rabbits or lambs.
In short, this is my ideal place to escape for a while not far from home and cheap.

Bellvitge Hermitage
My favourite place is the hermitage because I played in that place when I was a child.
Every afternoon after school I went to the chapel with my mother and my brother and then I looked for my friends and we played until dinner time.
In the summer, there wasn’t school and we played there all day.
I was very happy when I was a child, and now, I sometimes walk around the hermitage and I remember those days and I smile.

Gran Via
You can wander through the gardens. There are nice and tall hotels and new office building. There is also la Ciutat de la Justícia which gathers the different courts in one place with different colours and heights. Gran Via is very well connected to the centre of Barcelona.
There are two big shopping centres, one of them called Ikea where you can buy furniture. The other shopping centre is Gran Via 2, which gives a wide range of possibilities in terms of free time like cinemas and restaurants, cafes and shops and a big supermarket with floors.
Gran Via is the South entrance to Barcelona. In the past, it was ugly and derelict but now it is developed and cosmopolitan. It also helps el Gornal to become a wonderful environment.

Santa Eulalia
This area is the third district in l'Hospitalet and where I'm living at the moment.
At the end of the twentieth century a great urban movement began with a big change of the city image.
In Santa Eulalia, it is important the Romanic Hermitage which was built in the twelfth century, its name is Santa Eulalia de Provenzana. Santa Eulalia is also known for its textile factories that began in the nineteenth century, like Can Trinxet, la Textill Pareto, Godò i Trias, etc.
The district of Santa Eulalia has a sculpture by Josep Maria Subirachs, known as “The Pincer” and it welcomes everybody when we walk along Santa Eulalia street.
“The Pincer” represents the cross where “Santa Eulalia” was crucified.
Santa Eulalia and Torrasa are divided by the railroad. There is a bridge “The Bridge of Torrassa” and it was inaugurated in 1935.

Can Buixeres Park
I think there are many beautiful places in our city.
It’s difficult to select only one, but I like green areas a lot. I’m going to talk about can Buixeres Park.
This park is located between three neighbourhoods  (Sant Feliu, Centre and Can Serra). In fact, this park is the garden of an old farm house (Can Buixeres) converted into a public garden.
This park has many things to offer. There are a lot of trees and flowers, so it’s a very nice place to walk or do sports.
Above all, it’s a place to relax surrounded by nature and silence in the middle of a very populated and dense city.
I invite you to discover this park, if you don’t know it, and enjoy it doing your favourite activity; walking, running, reading a book, meditating...
Luckily, there are still some places to enjoy nature!

Xipreret Street
If you like calm places, old streets and historic houses, Xipreret Street is a nice place for you. It’s a cobblestone street of approximately 100 metres in downtown Hospitalet.
There are 27 protected buildings by the Architectural Heritage Plan. The origin of this street is in the Roman times and the origin of Hospitalet is in this street. Its moment of expansion was in the 16th Century, when many houses were built.
